![]() ![]() There was also a girl on roller skates that I would have mained in a heartbeat if she was included. The concept art you can unlock also shows incredible characters that didn’t end up making the cut, which makes me sad because they’re exceptional.įor example, one is a Bruce Lee-looking fighter that also comes with a sentai style hero outfit. Even Roo can be seen completely redrawn, washing glasses behind a bar in one of the stages. X Nightmare - a small expansion to the beat-em-up. ![]() Even in the concept art, each boss is listed with their own special moves and special attacks. Roughly a year and some change after Streets of Rage 4s release, developers DotEmu, Lizard Cube, and Guard Crush Games are back with Mr. While the game has a ton of characters to unlock, several of the bosses seem fully designed to be playable. I’m not even sure what compelled the action but it happened so naturally and I loved it. I had a weird moment when fighting a harder enemy where I threw a weapon to my teammate, they caught it and hit the boss with it. Even if you play with a random person online without chat, it only takes a brief moment to recognize each other’s play style and start working as a team. You can counter and combo off each other. The controls are really solid too, especially if you play with other people. That was, of course, until I realized that there are twelve extra characters to unlock. Streets of Rage 4 review A beautiful, fluid homage to a classic beat-em-up series. I’ll admit, I had no interest in Streets of Rage 4. Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch It’s a wonderful addition to an already great beat ’em up series. Streets of Rage 4 is more than a love letter to the original franchise.
